This is the same author that wrote Cloud Atlas and this book follows the same theme. It is six novellas following six different stories with magic and science fiction. Their stories are all intertwined, and the book travels across several continents on a perilous journey.

What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions by Randall Munroe

This is a fun book if you like light bathroom reading material. You can get the answers to questions you never even knew you had, such as what happens when you set off a nuclear bomb within a hurricane. (See?) The book is not only intriguing and informative, but funny at the same time, making it a great way to learn something new while in the restroom.

The Secret Place by Tana French

This is a crime novel about the Dublin Murder Squad. This beautiful work of fiction follows Detective Stephen Moran, who is hunting down this gang. It leads him to The Secret Place, which is a place where teenage girls can post their secrets anonymously, though there is something dark and mysterious here. It is a griping novel that will have you turning the pages. Many people are calling this the best work French has put out to date.

Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s “Learned” by Lena Dunham

If you are a fan of Lena Dunham, or even the show Girls, then this is great reading material. It is funny, down to earth and heartfelt. This is a compiling of different essays written by Dunham on things she has learned in life.
