Gotügo is proud to be a gold sponsor at the 14th Annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge! The event helps raise funds for Special Olympics Maryland and is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, Maryland.

The Special Olympics Maryland is the state’s largest organization that helps to raise money for children and adults with intellectual disabilities year round through sports training and competition. For a mere $50 in pledges, Plunge participants are eligible to take a quick dip into the Chesapeake Bay and will automatically receive the official Polar Bear Plunge Sweatshirt, lunch courtesy of The Greene Turtle, a photo gift, and of course the bragging rights over all those who can’t stand a little chill.

The Plunge is then followed by a fun filled day of family festivities and music celebrations including the Carnival FunFest including sand sculpting, face painting and chainsaw carvings to the Carnival FunFest Stage of live music and dance entertainment. There’s also the Rams Head Ice Lodge as well as the Polar Bear Plunge Pageant!

Gotugo Adds a Director of Special Events Sales and Director of Construction Operations to Its Team

Gotügo is proud to announce and welcome two new members to its team - Brenda Marr, Director of Construction Operations, and Stacey Sherbert, Director of Special Event Sales.

Ms. Marr joined the gotügo team in late October and will serve as the facilitator of operations with our clientele in the construction industry. She had previous worked in related fields and plans to help update and improve upon the company policies and procedures.

Ms. Sherbert was hired in early November and will coordinate all of gotügo’s special event rentals for portable restrooms and luxury trailers for our clients. Recently, she moved to the area from Alaska where she excelled as a real estate agent at For Sale By Owner for several years. She also held a sales position for a window replacement company before joining gotügo. Ms. Sherbert is looking forward for the opportunity to drive sales into new markets and accomplish company objectives.

We are pleased to have Ms. Marr and Ms. Sherbert on board, and look forward to a successful future with them.

Gotugo is Proud to Donate its Time and Services to the Oktoberfest Celebration benefiting the Pediatric Diabetes Care Complex

Children's National Medical CenterGotügo, a proud sponsor of the 2009 Oktoberfest Celebration, will donate its time and services towards helping the Children’s National Medical Center raise proceeds that will benefit the new Pediatric Diabetes Care Complex located in Washington, D.C. This year’s Oktoberfest will take place on Friday, October 23, 2009 at The Old Angler’s Inn, Potomac, Maryland.

The new Pediatric Diabetes Care Complex, with an estimated cost of $5 million to construct, will provide patients and their families opportunities and space to receive full clinical treatments as well as information and resources for pediatric diabetes management. This new state-of-the-art treatment center will help the Children’s National Medial Center to continue to be a leading force in providing the best pediatric diabetes care to those who suffer this lifelong illness.

This year’s event took place at 6:30 pm at the beautiful Old Angler’s Inn and included live music, dancing, a live auction, and drinks. Local restaurants generously offered to cater the menu with their own guest chefs including Chef Paul Ouedrado of The Old Angler’s Inn, Chef Maziar Farivar of the Peacock Café, and Chef Enzo Fabbraro of D’Acqua Restaurant. Tickets were $100 per person and are tax deductable. This is one of many fundraising events gotügo has contributed to in the year 2009.

Dogfest 2009

Gotügo, a proud sponsor of the Baltimore Humane Society’s 2009 DogFest, will donate its time and services helping the Humane Society raise proceeds that will provide shelter, care and protection for many animals in the Baltimore community. This year’s DogFest will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2009 in Shawan Downs, Hunt Valley, Maryland.

The 5K-9 Fun Run sponsored by LifeBridge Health begins at 7:30am - 9:00am. Dogs and their owners will run together to help raise funds for the Humane Society. At the end of the race there are a variety of prizes awarded for being the first shelter dog to complete the race, top three runners with dogs, most pledge money collected and more.

The DogFest gates open at 10:00am, the start of all festivities! There is a long list of activities, contests and exhibits for the whole family to attend and participate in such as the Paws on Parade Pledge Walk, the agility run course, the Baltimore Dog “Best in Fest” photo contest, demonstrations from the Maryland Jousting Society, horseback riding, a cat rescue pavilion, “Kitty” carnival games, raffles and many more. Poe from the Baltimore Ravens will also be at DogFest from 11:00am - 3:00pm along with the Ravens cheerleaders who will help judge the various dog contests.

There are high expectations for this year’s DogFest to surpass last year’s attendance of more than 4,000! This is one of many fundraising events gotügo will contribute to in the year 2009.

Gotugo’s Emergency Services Called Upon by the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority

On Monday, June 22nd, one of the deadliest train wrecks occurred in Washington, DC, killing nine people and leaving many others injured. It was one of the worst train wrecks in the railroad’s 33 year history.

Later that evening, gotügo received a call from the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (WMTA) requesting urgent assistance due to the horrific train wreck occurring earlier that day. Gotügo’s emergency services were on the scene immediately. According to WMTA, because of gotügo’s eagerness to help and capabilities to assist in such emergency situations, gotügo will remain to be the WMTA’s “go to” portable restroom company.

This is the 9th year for the event to help fight against breast cancer raising $200,000 for the Komen Foundation. The event started at The Mall in Columbia and the riders rode all the way to the Francis Scott Key Motel in Ocean City, MD. The ride included motorcycles as well as cars.
